Over Thanksgiving weekend 2012, Hometown Opportunity was launched.  For the past 5 years the website has well-served our local companies by filling open positions, informing area residents of local opportunities, as well as providing a resource for those looking to return to the area.

Our area schools use the site for educating our high school youth of the wealth of opportunity in our area.  The site serves not only has a resource to find a career, but also provides a good insight as to the skills needed in a particular industry (certification, proficient knowledge, etc.).  Having this information available allows students to better plan their career paths and career goals.

For 2017, 3500 job postings have been made on www.hometownopportunity.com.  At the time of this article, 564 jobs were posted on the site.

The site offers company profiles for job-seekers to better understand the benefits offered by the companies.  In addition, co-ops and internships can be sought either through the postings by employers or by a student submitting a personal profile seeking a co-op or internship.  Personal profiles are also beneficial for those individuals seeking a career, providing an opportunity to highlight their strengths and experience.  Nearly 12-25 personal profiles are submitted each week.

The website focuses on career opportunities available in Auglaize, Darke, Mercer & Shelby Counties.  The use of the website is free to employers and job seekers.  The website is funded by the Board of County Commissioners from each of these 4 counties.  We are fortunate to have such a valuable resource available for employers, job-seekers and our future workforce.
