As outlined in the Village Code, Chapter 152.57 Amendments, zoning changes require a public hearing, report and recommendations of changes that may be requested or required for public necessity.

Zoning requests are to be submitted to the Planning Commission Board through the Village Administrator.  A public hearing is set which requires a minimum of 10 days of public notice as well as a mail-delivered letter to each resident who adjoins the area sought for zoning change.  During the public hearing, the property owner seeking a zoning change presents the reason for requesting the zoning modification.  All attendees (including the public) are given the opportunity to express their concern or support of the requested modification.

The 5-member Planning Commission Board takes all comments into consideration before making a recommendation to council.
