Roll call showed the following members present on this date at 6:30 p.m.  Burnell, Parker, Schwartz, Hoffman, Kuck and Kronenberger.  Also present were Mayor Pape, Solicitor Smith, Chief of Police Skinner, and Fiscal Officer Gast.


Visitors were Randy Eckert, Tom Rengers, Harold Stammen, Delores Stienecker, Max Fledderjohann, Marlene Ahlers, Mike Swackhamer and Andrew Wilson representing The Evening Leader.


Minutes from the May 26 meeting were approved with the following addition:  Page 1, paragraph 10, line 5 add $2777.00 Jeff Bertke. Motion by Schwartz.   Second by Hoffman.  All ayes.


Mayor Pape made the following announcements in his Mayor’s Report:

  • Reported fines, fees and forfeitures for the month of May in the amount of $1,775.00.
  • Thanked everyone for attending the dedication of the Miami & Erie Shared Use Trail and the groundbreaking of the Komminsk Legacy Park.  The Village received congratulatory proclamations from the Keith Faber, President of the Ohio Senate and Jim Buchy, House of Representatives.


Residents from Circle Drive were present to ask questions about the proposed Circle Drive Reconstruction Project.  Most of the questions concerned sidewalks.  A public hearing will be organized to present the estimates and plans for the project.  Kuck made a motion to suspend the rule.  Second by Parker.  Five ayes. Schwartz abstained.  RESOLUTION 2015-6-28 a resolution of necessity for the Circle Drive Reconstruction Project.  Motion by Hoffman.  Second by Burnell.  Five ayes. Schwartz abstained.


Parker made a motion, second by Kronenberger to untable the third reading RESOLUTION 2015-4-19. All ayes.  The ordinance authorizes levying taxes for a period of five years beginning with the 2016 tax year at the rate of 2 mills on each dollar of the tax valuation of the taxable property within the Village in excess of the rate authorized by said 5705.02 O.R.C. for providing the Village of New Bremen with ambulance service and emergency medical services.  Motion by Kuck.  Second by Kronenberger.  Five ayes. Parker abstained.


Third reading RESOLUTION 2015-5-25 authorizing a donation of $6000 to Swim and Dive Team to help pay expenses for coaches etc.  Motion by Burnell.  Second by Parker.  All ayes.


Council discussed the Facilities Study and organized a committee consisting of Kuck, Burnell and Kronenberger to review the needs of the Village.  Fiscal Officer Gast will check the avenues for financing.


Burnell informed Council of the deteriorating roof on the swimming pool bath house and authorized the Village Administrator to collect bids for a new roof.  Council also wanted quotes for a metal roof for comparison.



Schwartz made a motion to enter into Executive Session at 7:26 p.m. to discuss personnel.  Second by Kronenberger.  All ayes.


Council came out of Executive Session at 8:01 p.m. and took no action.  Adjournment followed with a motion by Schwartz.  Second by Kronenberger.  All ayes.
