Roll call showed the following members present on this date at 6:30 p.m.  Burnell, Schwartz, Hoffman, Kuck and Kronenberger.  Parker was excused with motion by Schwartz.  Second by Kronenberger.  All ayes. Also present were Mayor Pape, Solicitor Smith, Village Administrator York, Chief of Police Skinner and Fiscal Officer Gast.


Visitors were Roger and Sam Rutschilling, Kathy Thompson representing The Daily Standard and Andrew Wilson representing The Evening Leader.


Minutes from the December 12 meeting were approved with a motion by Hoffman.  Second by Burnell.  All ayes.


Parker made a motion to approve the expenditures for the month in the amount of $1,147,617.01.  Second by Kuck.  All ayes.   


Mayor Pape made the following announcements in his Mayor’s Report:

  • Announced State of the Villages breakfast on Jan. 29 at 7:30 a.m.
  • Village Administrator York updated Councilors on various projects within the Village.


Third reading RESOLUTION 2014-12-68 authorizing New Bremen to partner with St. Marys and other municipalities to participate as a collaborative partner to receive financial assistance under the Ohio Development Services Agency Local Government Innovation Fund Program; create a regional development/tourism plan for the historic canal corridor between Johnston Farm an Indian Agency Historic Site in Miami County to Delphos in Allen/Van Wert County.  The partnership may cost the Village somewhere around $4000.  Motion by Kronenberger.  Second by Schwartz.  All ayes.


Second reading RESOLUTION 2015-1-2 amending Resolution 2011-6-21 by increasing the engineering contract with GPD in the amount of $1350 for the Herman Street Substation Upgrade.  Motion by Kronenberger.  Second by Burnell.  All ayes.


Second reading RESOLUTION 2015-1-3 entering into an architectural contract with Freytag and Associates not to exceed $27,500 for Lions Park restrooms.  Motion by Kuck.  Second by Schwartz.  All ayes.


First reading ORDINANCE 2015-1-3 naming Riebel Drive as the name of the un-named street in the Bunker Hill Industrial Park between VisionMark and Fastenel.  Motion by Schwartz.  Second by Kronenberger.  All ayes.


Schwartz made a motion to suspend the rule.  Second by Burnell.  All ayes.  RESOLUTION 2015-1-3 authorizing the Village Administrator to seek bids for four pickup trucks to be used at the Electric, Wastewater, Parks & Recreation and Public Works Departments.  Motion by Hoffman.  Second by Kuck.  All ayes.


Council also discussed purchasing a 2015 Ford Utility Police Interceptor to be shared by the Police Dept. and Village Administration.  Village Administrator York will gather more facts concerning the purchase.
