As a member owner of American Municipal Power (AMP) the Village of New Bremen is able to extend AMP scholarship opportunities to graduating seniors of New Bremen High School. Currently the Scholarship Committee of the American Municipal Power Board of Trustees is calling for nominations for scholarships awarded in memory of Lyle B. Wright and Richard H. Gorsuch, distinguished leaders in public power history.  Participating in the scholarship program is an excellent way to show community involvement and support education.  AMP will award up to four Lyle B. Wright and up to four Richard H. Gorsuch scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each.  Since awarding its first scholarship in 1988, AMP is proud to have presented $256,000 to graduating high school seniors.

The Lyle B. Wright Scholarship is available to students whose household receives electricity from an AMP member system (Village of New Bremen).    The Richard H. Gorsuch scholarship is available to a student whose parent or guardian is employed by an AMP member municipal electric system or by AMP.

To obtain general rules and eligibility, the graduating senior must contact NBHS Guidance Counselor, Tricia Wendel.  Forms are due to Mrs. Wendel by Friday, January 23rd, 2015.

From the submitted entries, the community nominee will be selected by Mayor Jeff Pape, Village Administrator Wayne York and Economic Development Director Angela Hamberg prior to Friday, January 30th.

Three of the past four years of participation have resulted in the New Bremen High School nominee earning a Lyle B. Wright Scholarship.
