The Village of New Bremen requires a vendors/solicitors permit for door to door sales. The permits have to be approved by the Mayor. When approved, a background check is conducted by the police department on each salesperson. If a permit is issued by the village it is valid only between the hours of 8am to 8pm Monday through Saturday. Vendor sales are prohibited on Sundays.
If a vendor/solicitor comes to your door, call 911 immediately if any of the following occur:

-Does not produce a permit issued by the Village of New Bremen.

-Behaves aggressively, acts threatening, tries to make you feel guilty for not wanting to buy what he/she is selling.

-Pressures you for an immediate decision and demands cash.

-Pressures you into signing a contract.

-Refuses to supply paperwork to substantiate what he/she claims to be selling or to give a contact phone number and address for who they are employed by.

-Asks for bank account or social security numbers.

-Attempts to make entry into your home (jiggles the door handle if no one answers). Tries to look into your home through a window.

If the village issues a permit it will be posted on the Village website and Facebook.

Remember: IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS!!
