SR 274 - finishing up milling today (9/7), paving will begin on Saturday (9/9)

For the village streets - finishing up milling today (9/7), chip sealing all streets tomorrow (9/8), beginning paving on Saturday (9/9) through next week.

Cones are out for visibility to protect vehicles from damage from manholes and water valves.  There may be some loose stone.  Vehicles should go slow to decrease the chance of kicking it up on their cars.

Thank you to all of our residents and business owners for your continued cooperation and understanding.   Disruption like this is not easy, but everyone has been supportive as we work through these roadway improvements.

Next Steps:

  • Week of September 18th:  Reclaimite (seal/sanding) will begin on the recently re-surfaced village streets
  • Week of September 25th:  striping of the recently re-surfaced village streets (where applicable)

What is the chip seal process?  Chip seal is applying an emulsion and then the crushed stone is spread over it. It ‘cures’ for about 4 hours and then loose stone is swept up with a street sweeper.  So there may be some loose stone and vehicles should go slow to decrease the chance of kicking it up on their cars.

What is reclamite?  Reclamite is a similar process, but has a quicker cure time and uses sand.
