New Bremen’s joint Scout Recycling Center is announcing one change before the end of February.
Due to the expense of maintaining the 40 foot trailer for newspapers and mixed papers, the Auglaize County Solid Waste District will be permanently removing the trailer next to the Public Works building by the end of the month. In its place, an additional “doggie door” will be added in the south wall of the Recycling Center for “MIXED PAPERS”. There is already one door there for mixed papers and this will make two.
According to Solid Waste Coordinator Scott Cisco, New Bremen’s Scout Recycling Center is already one of the biggest recyclers in Auglaize County. It is unique because it is a 24/7, self serve facility. Full staffing by Scouts occurs on the Second Saturday of the month from 9-11 am. Scout volunteers check the facility daily, empty the boxes, and sort the materials for pick up by the County which occurs several times per week.
It is a joint project of Boy Scout Troop 95 and the New Bremen Girl Scout Troops.
The recycling program is a community service project of the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts that also provides a source of income to support their programming.
