Roster of Elected & Appointed Officials
The Village Council consists of six voting members who are elected at-large for staggered four year terms on a non-partisan basis. The Council meets in Chambers at the Municipal Center at 6:30 pm (January, February and March meetings are held at 7:30 PM) on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month except in December when the meeting on the fourth Tuesday is not held. Regular committee meetings are held at 6:00 pm immediately preceding the full Council meeting. In accordance with Ohio Sunshine Laws, all meetings are open to the public. A President of Council is elected among the six members and he shall preside over meetings when the Mayor is not present. A Clerk/Treasurer is also elected by the public on a non-partisan basis for a four year term. The Clerk/Treasurer takes minutes of proceedings and keeps the official records of the Village Council. A Village Solicitor is contracted for on a two year basis and writes or reviews legislation, contracts, and other matters requiring legal expertise or opinions. Stephen L. Smith is the New Bremen Village Solicitor.
