The Village Council consists of six voting members who are elected at-large for staggered four year terms on a non-partisan basis. The Council meets in Chambers at the Municipal Center at 6:30 pm on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month except in December when the meeting on the fourth Tuesday is not held. Regular committee meetings are held at 6:00 pm immediately preceding the full Council meeting. In accordance with Ohio Sunshine Laws, all meetings are open to the public.
A President of Council is elected among the six members and he shall preside over meetings when the Mayor is not present. The Fiscal Officer takes minutes of proceedings and keeps the official records of the Village Council.
A Village Solicitor is contracted for on a two year basis and writes or reviews legislation, contracts, and other matters requiring legal expertise or opinions. Stephen L. Smith is the New Bremen Village Solicitor.
