New Bremen Newsflash

Rescue Squad

The New Bremen Emergency Squad, Inc. is an independent, not for profit organization founded in 1975, and is not part of Village Government. The Village provides housing for the squad vehicle and reimburses some of the training expenses. Squad personnel numbers approximately 18 volunteers and paid, certified Paramedics are available 24/7. In the last seven years, the Squad averaged 205 emergency runs per year, of which 55% required Advanced Life Support. Squad runs require a crew of two volunteer EMT's (emergency medical technicians) and one Paramedic and members are scheduled in twelve hour shifts. The squad only performs emergency services and does not make non-emergency transports.

The Rescue Squad provides their own fully equipped vehicle and all of the related supplies and equipment. They are entirely supported by donations from the community, "500 Club" raffle tickets, run fees, and bequests. The squad has received national recognition for their efforts, including the "Daily Points of Light Award" in 2001 and the "President's Service Award" in 2000.

New volunteers are welcomed and training classes are scheduled periodically.
