The Village Council consists of six voting members who are elected at-large for staggered four year terms on a non-partisan basis. The Council meets in Chambers at the Municipal Center at 6:30 pm on the second and fourth Mondays of each month except in December when the meeting on the fourth Monday is not held. Regular committee meetings are held at 6:00 pm immediately preceding the full Council meeting. In accordance with Ohio Sunshine Laws, all meetings are open to the public.

A President of Council is elected among the six members and he shall preside over meetings when the Mayor is not present. The Fiscal Officer takes minutes of proceedings and keeps the official records of the Village Council.

A Village Solicitor is contracted for a two year basis and writes or reviews legislation, contracts, and other matters requiring legal expertise or opinions.

Community Involvement Don Kuck has served as the Council President since 2003. He is a charter member of the New Bremen/New Knoxville Rotary Club. Don has been involved with various Rotary projects locally and internationally. He is one of the founding fathers of Bremenfest (1974). Don and John Gilberg were instrumental in starting the annual festival, raising monies for various charitable organizations. Don was also the co-founder of the local 301 club, an annual event held in collaboration with the New Bremen Athletic Boosters, fundraising monies benefit the NBHS athletic programs.

Career & Education Background For 44 years, Don was an independent agent and business owner of New Bremen Insurance Agency. He is proud to see how much the village of New Bremen has grown and is pleased that he could be a part of the growth.

Dennis Burnell

Community Involvement Dennis has served on church council, Auglaize Industries Board of Directors, and Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and is a lifetime member of the New Bremen Historical Society.

Career & Education Background Dennis and his late wife (Alice) moved to New Bremen in 1977 when they both accepted positions at New Bremen Local Schools. Along with teaching 6th grade, Dennis was also a school bus driver, taught driver's education, coached football and track. He retired from teaching in 2004. He is currently employed as a workshop supervisor at Auglaize Industries, providing adult day habilitation services for adults with disabilities. Dennis received his B.S. degree from Ashland University and a masters degree from Marygrove College.
