Roll call showed the following members present on this date.  Burnell, Wills, Schwartz, Hoffman, Kuck and Stienecker.  Mayor Pape was excused with a motion by Burnell.  Second by Stienecker.  All ayes.  Also present were Solicitor Smith, Chief of Police Harrod and Fiscal Officer Gast. 

Visitors were Betty Roetgerman, Donna Schmitmeyer, Sandy Meyer, Cresta Ritter, Molly Burnell, Shelly Busse, Diane Kramer, Amy Heitkamp, Shelley This, Nick Wilker, Amy & Larry Speelmen, Keith Quellhorst, Margie Wuebker representing The Daily Standard and Angie Klosterman representing The Evening Leader.

Minutes from the May 22 meeting were approved with a motion by Hoffman.  Second by Schwartz.  All ayes.

President of Council Kuck made the following announcements in the Mayor’s Report:

- Reported fines, fees and forfeitures for the month of $1706.00.

- Approved F-Permits for the New Bremen Firemen’s Picnic and Bremenfest.

- Announced the NB-NK Rotary Sunshine Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies will be June 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bremenfest Park. The NB-NK Rotary expressed thanks for all the Village did for them for this project.

- Schwartz reported the Yard Waste Facility was being abused and cameras may be needed to police the area.  Council will assess the issue.

Committee members and parents of the NB Swim & Dive Team were present to ask Council to allow the temperature of the pool to be warmer during practice sessions when the weather is cooler.  It was decided to experiment with the temperature settings and possibly start heating the pool earlier in the morning.  The swim team was asked to submit their schedule so that the management knows when to start heating the pool.  Other items discussed will be reviewed by the Recreation Committee at a later date.  Pool Manager Molly Burnell presented Council a list of accomplishments and recommendations.

Council voted down the third reading ORDINANCE 2012-5-7 establishing a No Parking zone on the north side of Monroe Street between Washington and Water Streets.  It was decided to keep the parking spaces until the renovation of the Opera House was complete.  Motion by Wills.  Second by Hoffman.  All nays.

RESOLUTION 2012-6-19 accepting all bids for the 2012 Street Resurfacing Program and awarding the bids to the lowest bidder Barrett Paving, Middletown, Ohio.  The cost of the project is $202,817.71.  Included are the base bid and alternates 2, 3, 5 and 6 (see attached bid tabulation).  Motion by Hoffman.  Second by Schwartz.  All ayes.

Schwartz made a motion to suspend the rule.  Second by Wills.  All ayes.  Resolution 2012-6-20 authorizing Change Order #1 for the Bremenfest Parking Lot Expansion.  The amount of the decrease is $8759.  Motion by Wills.  Second by Schwartz.  All ayes.

First reading ORDINANCE 2012-6-10 authorizing the rezoning of 201 N. Main St. from R-2 to C-1 as recommended by the Planning Commission.  Motion by Wills.  Second by Schwartz.  All ayes.

First reading ORDINANCE 2012-6-11 authorizing A-1 Agriculture Zone to be excluded from the required height of grass in Section 93.5 of the Zoning Code.  Motion by Wills.  Second by Kuck.  All ayes.

Council adjourned at 8:50 p.m. with a motion by Schwartz. Second by Burnell.  All ayes.
