Cider Time has been an annual New Bremen tradition since 1956.  In the early years, businesses were encouraged to decorate their windows for the season, with judges voting on the best window display.  A contest was held at the Amstutz Hatcheries Building (on the corner of Main & Monroe) for the largest pumpkin, largest ear of corn and most perfect ear of corn.  Other event activities included a record hop for teenagers with dancing in the streets and a firing demonstration of a small muzzle loading cannon.

The current day event is comprised of a parade, donuts and cider, a costume contest and hay rides.  All ages are encouraged to dress-up for the event.

The event kicks off with the parade line-up at 1pm, at the S. Main Street parking lot.  The parade begins at 1:30 pm with the New Bremen Fire Department and New Bremen High School marching band leading participants to the Crown Pavilion where the crowd is greeted with cider and donuts.

For the costume contest, judges choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for a large range of categories that include: Witches & Clowns, Scariest, Most Unique/Original, Funniest, Animals (not pets), TV Characters, On Wheels, Couples and Groups.

The New Bremen Lion’s Club was the original sponsor of the event.  The event is now sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 241 with the help of the Parks department and New Bremen EMS.

Cider Time is typically scheduled on the last Sunday of October.
