On Sunday afternoon, witches, ghouls and little bumble bees were found wandering down Main Street to celebrate Cider Time 2015.  This year served as the 60th year of Cider Time.  A tradition that started back in 1955, by the local Lion’s Club, is now sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion, the Village of New Bremen Parks Department and New Bremen EMS.

The parade begins in the parking lot behind the Lockkeeper's House.  The parade is led by the American Legion, Police Chief and Fire Engine down Main Street to the Crown Pavilion where the attendees are welcomed with donuts and apple cider.  The children join in some friendly competition for 'best of'  in ten different categories including: 'Witches & Clowns', 'Scariest', 'Most Unique' and 'Cardinal Spirit'.

This year’s event was a record crowd.  While the number of children and parents are not actually counted, the same amount of candy is purchased each year.  This year required a quick run to Wagner’s IGA to replenish the contest participation prize.   “We definitely had a larger turnout this year. We have never run out of candy before.“, said Mayor Jeff Pape, representing the ‘Sons of the American Legion’.
