The New Bremen Festival Association is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and with the tax deductible donations received along with the profits from the festival, we are able to donate to various philanthropic groups in our community as well as our beautiful park.  My name is Andrew Roiberg, and this year I will be completing my third year as the Treasurer of the New Bremen Festival Association – known to many of you as the Bremenfest Committee.  For the past 2 ½ years, myself along with 10-14 other New Bremen residents have volunteered considerable time to plan, organize, recruit and manage the annual Bremenfest.  The committee’s goal is to host an event the community is proud to be part of while also working to reduce overall costs.  This in turn ensures continued viability as well as profitability of the festival, ultimately allowing the Bremenfest organization to give back to the New Bremen community through philanthropy and donation.

If you helped with the festival in any way over the past 40+ years, we want to THANK YOU!  In 2015 and 2016 the financial condition of the Bremenfest has turned more favorable - this would not be possible without your participation and assistance!  However, the committee is struggling to find people who are willing to volunteer their time to either serve on the committee or just volunteer 2-4 hours during the weekend to help with an event.  Currently, we are looking for interested community members who would like to shadow the treasurer-elect and secretary during this year’s festival as well as next year’s “planning season”.   We are also in desperate need of committee members to help with the coordination of the festival, volunteers available to pick up a shift or two, and community members to make the most cakes we have ever had for the cake wheel.  All of these individuals (volunteers) are instrumental in making sure the festival runs smoothly!

To be a member of the Bremenfest Committee we ask that you make a 3 year commitment and take the Friday during as well as the Monday after the festival as vacation days to help with set-up and tear down.  The week prior to the festival we typically set-up from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. M-Th.  Beyond that we meet once a month from September - June and every other week from July until the festival.  The meetings usually last 1 – 2 hours while we each report on the status/needs of our individual responsibilities.  I would estimate that members typically spend no more than 4-8 hours a month on the festival with the exception of July (10 – 20 hours) and August (festival requirements).

We know everyone is busy and has various commitments - jobs, kids, families, sporting events, other organizations that you are already involved with, and many other commitments.  However, we need everyone in the community to take Pride in the festival and our community by volunteering their time.  That is why our theme for this year is “New Bremen Pride”.  Organizations such as the Bremenfest solely exist because of volunteers like you and I.   A couple hours of your time during the festival weekend, or even the week before (during set-up), in turn provides so much for our community’s future.

Please consider volunteering your time to become a member of the committee or assist with some of the events at the festival.  Most importantly, we are inviting each and every one of you, your families, and friends to come up and enjoy the festivities which will allow Bremenfest to continue to give back to the community.  Help support the New Bremen Festival Association so our wonderful community can look forward to another 40+ years of the Bremenfest!

We welcome all comments and suggestions, please send them to  If you have ideas on where you would like to see the profits from the festival donated, that would specifically benefit the community, please let us know.  You can find more information on our webpage at or visit the Bremenfest Facebook page.
