NBHS Student Recognized

In the fall of 2016, Mayor Pape sought an effort to provide residents with information pertaining to public improvements, village projects, added features at our parks, or upcoming events in the Community, the village partnered with New Bremen Schools to produce a community newsletter. This partnership was formed to meet the needs of the community, as well as allowing for an opportunity to incorporate the project into curriculum.

Bremenfest 2018

The 2018 Bremenfest Committee is entering the home stretch in planning the 2018 festival. Our 2018 theme is #commUNITY. The emphasis here is on UNITY. We feel that we can accomplish so much more when we are united. Our community saw that this past fall when the New Bremen girls volleyball team won the state championship. Collectively each team member worked together to reach their goal. We are pleased to announce that Head Coach Diana Kramer has agreed to be our 2018 Grand Marshal for our parade, Coach Kramer also has agreed to speak at the opening ceremonies.

Community Reinvestment Area Agreement for Residential Property


The Village of New Bremen currently offers a CRA program for residential property within the New Bremen corporation limits.  The CRA program allows for a tax exemption for the improvements made on the property. 

Project Funding through Governor's Capital Budget Bill

In the fall of 2017, based on community input and approval from village council, 5 projects were submitted for the State Capital Budget Bill Community Projects funding.  The village’s economic development office garnered support for the projects from the offices of Senator Matt Huffman and Representative Keith Faber’s office.

It is a new year...planning for Exploration Academy is underway


Planning is underway for the upcoming Exploration Academy career event for 9th grade students. 

On Monday, February 26th, Exploration Academy VI will take place at Wright State University, Lake Campus. 

Since 2012, the Village of New Bremen economic development office and Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce have partnered with the school guidance counselors in Minster, New Bremen and New Knoxville for this annual career event.

AMP Scholarship Opportunity (New Bremen High School Seniors)

Each year, AMP communities are encouraged to submit nominees for scholarships offered by AMP.  The one-time scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors.  New Bremen is seeking a nominee to represent New Bremen. 

Two types of scholarships are available:  Lyle B. Wright (applicant must receive electric from the Village of New Bremen) or Richard H. Gorsuch (applicant must have a family member who is employed by the New Bremen electric department).

The New Bremen Festival Association is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and with the tax deductible donations received along with the profits from the festival, we are able to donate to various philanthropic groups in our community as well as our beautiful park.  My name is Andrew Roiberg, and this year I will be completing my third year as the Treasurer of the New Bremen Festival Association – known to many of you as the Bremenfest Committee.  For the past 2 ½ years, myself along with 10-14 other New Bremen residents have volunteered considerable time to plan, organize, recruit and man

Community Ordinances & Resolutions: Zoning Changes


As outlined in the Village Code, Chapter 152.57 Amendments, zoning changes require a public hearing, report and recommendations of changes that may be requested or required for public necessity.

Commercial Construction Plan Review & Inspections

All commercial construction activity, in Auglaize County, subject to compliance with the Ohio Building Code is to be submitted to Miami County Department of Development. 

Effective January 20, 2017, the Board of County Commissioners for Auglaize County established a Certified Building Department.  On March 3, 2017, the City of Wapakoneta, City of St. Marys, Village of New Knoxville, Village of New Bremen, Village of Cridersville, Village of Minster, and the Village of Waynesfield were certified as sub-departments of Auglaize County.

Last month, prior to the inauguration of the United States 45th President, Donald Trump, a German reporter from Bremen, Germany contacted Mayor Pape.  The reporter was seeking how American communities, with German backgrounds, were honoring the day and overall perception of a Trump presidency.

Strategic Planning Meetings Begin

The first series of meeting for the Strategic Planning committee began on January 11th at the Lockkeeper’s House.  Mayor Pape convened the meeting and welcomed everyone.  The village retained Poggemeyer Design Group (PDG) to update New Bremen’s 2002 Plan and the appointment of a planning steering committee, representative of the entire community, was the first order of business. The mayor thanked all present for agreeing to serve on the committee. 

Village seeking applications for seasonal staff

The Village of New Bremen is accepting applications for 2017 seasonal positions. For returning seasonal employees, $0.25/hr is added to the base rate for each additional year of service.

Swimming Pool-most positions are needed Memorial Day until the end of summer.

Village of New Bremen Income Tax Regulations

Who must file a return?        
The Village of New Bremen requires all residents working outside the city limits and residents not fully withheld upon. Any person or business located outside of New Bremen and performing services inside the Village of New Bremen must file a return. Anyone who receives income from rental properties, partnerships, self-employed business ventures, etc., must file an annual return regardless of any tax due.
